What makes it 68% Baby-Friendly: Paved paths and one diaper table make strolling possible, but arched bridges, boat stroller limits, and scarce nursing rooms mean parents must bring carrier and plan breaks carefully.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to stroll canals, visit the museum and enjoy a café break without rushing with a baby.
Stroll along paved village paths:
Walk the main footbridges and canals on smooth, stroller-friendly paths.
Tip: Use a foldable stroller or baby carrier for narrow, arched bridges.
Rent an electric whisper boat:
Cruise the canals on a quiet boat that fits up to 8 people.
Tip: Request a life jacket for the baby and leave your folded stroller in the rental’s storage garage.
Visit Museum Giethoorn ’t Olde Maat Uus:
Explore a 19th-century farmhouse museum with free entry for children under 3.
Tip: The museum is wheelchair accessible; fold your stroller briefly to pass through doorways.
Relax at a canal-side terrace:
Enjoy coffee, pancakes or light lunch at cafés with flat terraces.
Tip: Ask for a high chair and choose a table with room for your stroller.

I have been in Giethoorn so many times with different friends from Vietnam and still this little village has too much charm to discover. Definitely reccomend at least half day visit during spring (late April - June) or pre-fall (September-early October). Especially on a sunny day. Do: rent a boat - try fresh make stroopwafel - have lunch in one of the village cafe by the canal with hidden garden -...

Venice of the Netherlands. Beautiful, green and breathtaking town. Definitely worth a visit. Make sure you also experience a boat trip there.

So lovely. It was a great way to spend a day outside of the city, in the countryside. Beautiful little village and fun canal tour. Food was delicious as well.

It was so nice to explore the village in a small boat which is driven by you with an electric motor. Amazed by the houses alongside the water. It was a bit chill since we visited it in the first week of April. The best time to visit is during summer. Parking was not included in the ticket but you can find a few parking lots at the location.
Visit from April to October for mild weather. Summer mornings before 10am are quieter for boat rentals. In colder months check boat availability in advance.
