  • Baby equipment available: Some holiday cottages and boat rentals provide life jackets and high chairs on request.

Challenges:

  • Narrow bridges: Several wooden footbridges are arched and tight, requiring a folded stroller or carrier.
  • Limited changing facilities: Public restrooms often lack baby changing tables; bring a portable mat.

I have been in Giethoorn so many times with different friends from Vietnam and still this little village has too much charm to discover. Definitely reccomend at least half day visit during spring (late April - June) or pre-fall (September-early October). Especially on a sunny day. Do: rent a boat - try fresh make stroopwafel - have lunch in one of the village cafe by the canal with hidden garden -...

So lovely. It was a great way to spend a day outside of the city, in the countryside. Beautiful little village and fun canal tour. Food was delicious as well.

It was so nice to explore the village in a small boat which is driven by you with an electric motor. Amazed by the houses alongside the water. It was a bit chill since we visited it in the first week of April. The best time to visit is during summer. Parking was not included in the ticket but you can find a few parking lots at the location.

When is the best time to visit Giethoorn Center (Giethoorn, Netherlands)?

Visit from April to October for mild weather. Summer mornings before 10am are quieter for boat rentals. In colder months check boat availability in advance.
