How Baby-Friendly is Templo Mayor Museum?

50%Baby-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 50% Baby-Friendly: Ramps and an elevator let strollers reach all rooms, so entry is allowed. Still, narrow corridors, no baby-changing station, no nursing room, and many stairs make visits stressful for carers.

Positives:

  • Stroller accessible: The museum has ramps and an elevator for easy stroller entry to all exhibit areas.
  • Free child admission: Children under 13 enter free when accompanied by adults.
  • Free cloakroom: Use the guardarropa to store coats and small bags and keep your hands free.

Challenges:

  • No baby-changing facilities: There is no dedicated changing table—bring a portable pad and use a restroom stall.
  • Narrow corridors and stairs: Some exhibit areas have tight spaces; folding or carrying the stroller is often easier.

While the entrance price has gone up for foreign visitors (now 210 pesos per person), it was still worth a visit. Yes, you can see the ruins from outside for free. However, going inside allows you to view the descriptions and explanations (most of them have both English and Spanish notes). There are also exhibitions that show interesting collections, such as the marine and land animal offerings to...

Not enough English guide. Very troublesome to translate everything into English. If you want visitors to better understand your history and culture, this should be done properly in common language. After the historical site, there are more to see in the museum. Don't miss it! This is truly an amazing place to visit (with or without the English guide).

Not sure this museum needs any more reviews! But it is, of course, a must visit for anyone new to CDMX. There is lots to see and it boggles the brain to see the literal layers of history across the site. Just make sure to plan for the weather as the outdoor area can get very hot in the sunshine and there is no cafe on site for a midway rest stop. It’s a bit of a marathon to see everything in one v...

Very interesting place from a historical standpoint. The temple structure is largely destroyed unfortunately, and it’s clear that ground settlement is taking a further toll. But it is cool that you can walk over/around it (on sidewalks with railing), unlike some other sites. The indoor portion of the museum is quite interesting, you could probably spend 1 - 1.5 hours there and cover it well. It’s...

We visited this museum without a guide and still found it very interesting and informative. There is signage in both English and Spanish. But some of the signage is in Spanish only. The museum was larger than I had expected and had great artifacts in it. It is amazing that this site is in the middle of such a large city.

When is the best time to visit Templo Mayor Museum (Mexico City, Mexico)?

During rainy season the outdoor ruins get slippery—wear non-slip shoes and keep your baby in a secure carrier. The indoor galleries stay dry.
