Solo travelers get varied hiking, cycling and winter sports routes, clear English signs, safe wide trails, and cheap entry, but limited evening events reduce score.
Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: This lets you cover the flower garden, waterfall trail, and forest zone at a relaxed pace.
Morning photography in Country Garden:
Capture sunrise light on tulip and cosmos beds in the garden.
Tip: Arrive 30 minutes before sunrise, carry a tripod, and use low ISO for sharp flower shots.
Waterfall trek & river play:
Hike the three-falls trail along the Atsubetsu River to Ashiribetsu Falls.
Tip: Wear quick-dry shoes and bring water; river rocks can be slippery after rain.
Forest bathing in Takino no Mori Zone:
Walk under tall trees and rest on benches for a calm woodland experience.
Tip: Stay quiet to hear birds and use the map at the entrance gate to avoid losing the path.
Bicycle loop through park zones:
Rent a bike to cover all zones from the Country Garden to Children’s Valley.
Tip: Rent at Central Gate for a 2-hour ¥310 plan and lock your bike at each stop.

Came on July 28 2025. Attended the Segway tour which consists of 45 minutes of training and a 1-2 hour tour across the park on the segway(highly recommended.). Good scenery and there is an area for children to have fun with water parks, slides, inflatable castles and even a hill where they can play Sisyphus with a large red ball. Good for family trips.

Beautiful flower garden! Went during the summer. You can spend about 1.5 hours here. Would combine with the waterfall and the cemetery or the Makomanai art museum.

Beautiful tulip park during early summer. Huge garden with many facilities. If you are taking public transport, take note that the last bus out during weekday is at 4:30 pm. Which is weird since the park closes at 5 pm. They should arrange bus after the park closing time in my opinion.

Such a beautiful place to spend the day! Tulips were in full bloom when we visited and they were spectacular! The waterfalls and cherry blossoms were also a highlight! The sound of local birds singing as you walk through the forests is so calming. And if you have kids, the children’s play areas look like so much fun!

There is a parking fee and entrance fee (per perso...
