Positives:

  • Stroller-friendly design: Level floors, ramps, and wide paths make stroller travel easy.
  • Direct station linkage: Connects JR Sapporo, Odori, and Susukino, reducing above-ground walking.

Challenges:

  • No dedicated nursing room: Use multi-purpose restroom stalls for diaper changes or nursing privacy.
  • Limited baby-care seating: Rest areas lack high chairs; you may need to hold your baby yourself.

This "Walkway" was a never-ending below ground passageway with many side passageways, which not linked the subway stations of downtown Sapporo, but also the major commercial buildings above ground or road level at their respective...

This underground walkway is very useful during winter. When we first arrived at sapporo, we needed to walk on icy road from sapporo Station to our hotel at tanukikoji 狸小路. Google Map showed it takes 20 minutes' walk, but eventually, we took 40 minutes as it was very difficult to navigate on ice and snow road. After a few days at sapporo, we finally discovered this underground walkway. It only to...

Best place to buy things from pop up street vendors, garage sales, and small bazaars. Street artists provide entertainment throughout the year. In winter it's convenient to walk from Sapporo station to Susukino without getting freezed.
