What makes it 81% Kids-Friendly: Kids enter for ¥1,100, can touch small fish, join stamp rallies, and watch fairy penguins up close; elevators and rest areas help parents, but many tanks sit at adult height, so lifting is needed.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for main exhibits, two feeding shows, a workshop, and breaks without rushing kids.
Penguin feeding shows:
Watch keepers feed Northern Rockhopper and Fairy Penguins up close.
Tip: Arrive 10 minutes early and grab a front-row spot at the viewing glass.
Digital Art Aquarium:
Experience immersive ocean projections in “The Blue Room.”
Tip: Visit mid-afternoon on weekdays to find seating before crowds arrive.
Fan-making workshop:
Make a fish-fin uchiwa fan in 30–45 minutes.
Tip: Sign up at the info desk on arrival; ¥300 per child, free for annual-pass holders.
Interactive touch pool:
Touch small fish in a supervised hands-on area.
Tip: Have kids wash hands before and after; best enjoyed right after feeding shows.
Stamp rally quiz:
Follow stamps and answer marine-themed questions.
Tip: Pick up quiz sheets at the info desk during special event periods.

Great place , unique exhibition. Instead of showing “fish tank” , this aquarium shows how the aquarium works…..from preparing salt water to nursery baby penguins. My kids love seeing all the back stage activities. It’s very educational & inspiring.

We wanted to escape the heat and decided to visit the aquarium. It's a very calming and serene place to visit. Unlike the traditional aquariums, this one is very modern and uses lots of tech to enhance the experience. The penguins were very entertaining and amusing to watch.

I initially thought this would be just another ordinary aquarium and that there might be better places to visit in Sapporo. I was wrong. My wife insisted we come here and she was absolutely right. Went on Monday late afternoon timing. It was not crowded and I enjoyed myself there. It was very relaxing and peaceful with the lighting and music. The cute penguins were the highlight of the place and also nice spongebob theme.
In summer holidays look for special stamp rally events. In winter, enjoy the warm indoor exhibits and smaller weekday crowds.
