Kids up to 12 enter free and can safely touch tornadoes, ice rooms, and electric arcs, while every floor has child-seat toilets, so parents can offer hours of active science play.
Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for planetarium, hands-on labs, themed floors, plus snack and rest breaks for younger children.
Tornado & Electric Discharge Labs:
See a 9m artificial tornado and 4m lightning bolts.
Tip: Check the performance schedule on arrival and line up early for front-row views.
Deep Freezing Lab:

Tip: Bring a light jacket; kids love taking photos with frosty breath effects.
Planetarium Show:

Tip: Reserve combined tickets (¥800/adult) in advance and arrive 15 minutes early.
Themed Science Floors:
Explore geology and dinosaurs (Floor 2), mechanics (Floor 3), body science (Floor 4), and physics (Floor 5).

The place was interesting, but I only stayed for 10 minutes because it was so crowded. The staff were also friendly, especially the elderly lady outside. Even though my Japanese isn’t very fluent, she patiently guided me. I truly admire her work ethic despite her age. Wishing her good health always.

Fun science museum! Four floors of interactive demonstrations enjoyed by both kids and adults. The special exhibit was too academic for my kids, not helped by Japanese-only signage (thanks, Google Lens!), but was an interesting study of Japanese ancestral heritage.

Loved this iconic museum and planetarium in Nagoya. The museum if 100% kids friendly, you will see a lot of families coming. The exhibitis are very interactive, and there is a planetarium with presentations happening often, which I recommend. I also attended a science demonstration aimed at children, which was very nice.

Sadly the museum closes at 5pm so we were n...
