Underrated attraction, enjoyed the visit. Spent about a half hour to an hour there.

Easy way to spend just under an hour and they have free wifi. But I enjoyed walking through the ship and the whole pier area.

This is the real thing that actually went to Antarctica. Can't imagine how harsh the mission was with limited technology and supplies. Respect to the explorers and scientists.

Amazing museum about Japanese Antarctica expeditions for just 300yen. The museum is inside an actual icebreaker that was used in antarctic expeditions about 60 years ago. It is a great experience to visit such a historic ship. If you liked the anime "A place further than the universe", then definitely visit 👍

Lovely little museum ship, the second commissioned for Japanese Antarctic expeditions. Has a nice little museum on board and also an old helicopter. I came of a rainy day, so sadly the bridge was off limits. Still lots to see and do! get the ticket with the observation deck and the maritime museum, a steal at 710 JPY for all three! I came during golden week and it still wasn't crowded. p.s. you ...
In summer, bring water and sun protection for the open deck. In winter, wear layers; the waterfront deck can feel colder and windy.
