Children can picnic, run on lawns, and spot fish from a supervised rowboat; however, there is no fenced playground and the unfenced riverbank means parents must keep close watch throughout the visit.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for a boat ride, picnic, playground visit, and a short walk without rushing young children.
Family rowboat rental:
Rent a wooden rowboat on the Hozu River for up to three people.
Tip: Arrive at the dock early to secure life jackets for each child and avoid lines.
Riverside picnic under cherry trees:
Spread a blanket on the grassy banks to enjoy snacks.
Tip: Buy onigiri and drinks from a stall near Togetsukyo Bridge before you arrive.
Observation deck visit:
Climb a gentle trail to the forest observation platform overlooking the river valley.
Tip: Go here first to beat the midday crowd and capture clear family photos.
Children’s plaza playtime:
Let kids run on slides and play in a shaded plaza beneath pine trees.
Tip: Bring a refillable water bottle and rest in nearby benches between play sessions.

We accidentally found this place and no regrets, nice place with bridge view and water sounds. Some movie shooting was also happening when we were there.

Park is very wide and by the river, pretty relaxing. It is near the train station so it does get crowded. Visited on 2nd Apr, 5:30pm, and sakura was still 60% bloomed only. Do come back when it’s full bloom.

The view of Hozugawa Valley from the summit is enchanting😍🤩! The Hozugawa River has boat rides and boat rentals. The river bank has benches, beautiful trees, food and drinks. The Togetsukyo Bridge is inviting to walk through.
