Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu (couple trip)

We stayed there one night during our Japan trip in August. We enjoyed the stay very much. For me, the highlights are its tranquil atmosphere, the open air bathes, and its excellent service. The kids enjoyed the breakfast and the ice cream machine very much. Everyone had a great time there!

This is not a 5 star level hotel. The views are beautiful, and the room itself was clean and comfortable, but nothing in the service or amenities is 5 star level. There are limited options for food, we had to go to a nearby building to eat at a very cheap place. Our spa bookings were cancelled as they made a mistake and offered no solution or compensation. Honestly, we booked one night and wished we booked for more. From the moment of walking into the hotel, we were treated with the true traditional Ryokan feel but with a modern touch to the building and rooms itself.
