What makes it 49% Baby-Friendly: Paths fit strollers and parking is close, but there is no nursing room, no diaper table and strong mountain wind, so parents must bring supplies and consider only a short stop.
Note: Mt. Taikan Observation Deck is 49% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Hakone for a more suitable experience.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for the drive, panoramic views, snack break, and baby care with a relaxed pace.
Scenic Turnpike Drive:
Use the Anest Iwata Turnpike to reach the deck while enjoying mountain and forest views.
Tip: Pay the one-way toll of ¥900 in cash. Stop at turnout spots for quick photo breaks.
Panoramic Observation Deck:
Experience 360° views of Mt. Fuji, Sagami Bay, and the Hakone valley from flat, stroller-safe paths.
Tip: Visit on clear days for best visibility and stay on wide main walkways with the stroller.
Hakone no Buranko Swing:
Take family photos on the large wooden swing with Mt. Fuji in the background.
Tip: Secure your baby in a carrier on the swing. Wait for your turn during busy periods.

Rest indoors next to the deck with coffee or a light snack.
Tip: Buy coffee (¥250) for refillable cups. Bring baby formula and snacks since no baby menu.

First time here, perfect view of Mt Fuji and lots of room to park. Has food, drinks, toilets, and 3 flavours of ice cream.

Lovely drive from Chiba towards Izu we pass by the observation deck to catch a glimpse of Mt Fuji. The rest area has restaurants and toilets

Few tourists and great view of Fuji-san (Mount Fuji). We were lucky to visit this place with good weather. You can see Fuji-san from the parking lot, and even better when you walk into the Sky Lounge. There is a giant swing what reminds me of “Heidi of the Alps” anime. The Sky Lounge contains a food court (snacks to light meal) and restroom. Very much a Showa period building.

Awesome view of Mt Fuji without the crowds. This place can only be reached if you drive so that means absolutely few tourists compared to Hakone area. Much better than Owakudani. We went twice on sunrise and sunset in decemeber. Careful slippery carpark with ice

Really cool spot to see both Lake Ashi and Mt Fuji, would recommend coming here if you have a car. There is also places to buy food and drinks and toilets, and a swing photo spot.
Spring brings cherry blossoms along the turnpike. Autumn offers vivid leaf colors. Winter can be very cold and windy—dress in warm layers.
