What makes it 70% Kids-Friendly: School-age children get treasure-hunt worksheets, free garden space, and discounted entry, yet fragile glass displays offer no hands-on play so interest may fade after about an hour.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This gives enough time for exhibits, garden play and a break without tiring younger children.
Children’s Learning Worksheet:
Pick up a free worksheet for elementary-aged kids to draw and answer simple quizzes.
Tip: Collect worksheets at the ticket desk and follow the prompts at each exhibit.
Preschool Cut-Out Hunt:
Younger kids get printed cut-outs to match with real glass pieces.
Tip: Help them spot matching shapes and colours to keep them engaged.
Explore the Outdoor Garden:
Walk the lawns and themed paths around the museum.
Tip: Bring a small snack or picnic and let kids run safely on the grass.
Orient Express Tea in the Carriage:
Enjoy tea and sweets inside a restored Pullman carriage decorated with Lalique glass panels.
Tip: Reserve your slot at the café counter as soon as you arrive; seats fill quickly.
Kid-Friendly French Lunch:
Choose simple dishes and kids’ plates at the café.
Tip: Ask staff for a high chair or to heat baby food if needed.

The exhibit is underwhelming to me, but if you have the Hakone Pass and are into perfume, then it’s a good choice. Otherwise, I think it can be skipped given the location is kind out of the way from other attractions. The resting area is beautiful, but compared to other museums in the area, their garden is not as impressive.

What a surprise bonus while visiting Hakone! We really enjoyed seeing many incredible and intricate works by René Lalique. As a fragrance enthusiast, I recognized the name as a perfume brand due to the incredible glass bottles (Soleil by Lalique). The only downside for English speakers, is most of the museum exhibit information plaques are in Japanese.

Great art pieces. If you want to know more about Lalique History, you may come to visit and have a walk. Entrance fee is around ¥1,200 which takes you around 30mins walk. However, if you want to take a detail look, it may take you more than an hour.

Nice museum with designed display. The works are decoration materials done by glass, brass, also the creative women's accessories. Don't allowed to photography. The place outside are nice.

It is a must! They have a huge collection of 1,500 pieces crafted by R. Lalique! They are beautiful!!! The atmosphere there is peaceful. No pictures allowed and we bought their book. Their restaurant serves very good European food (excellent beef) that locals go specially for having lunch.
In spring and autumn, the garden shows seasonal blooms and coloured leaves, ideal for quick outdoor breaks. In summer, arrive early for cooler gallery visits. In winter, dress in layers for short garden strolls before returning indoors.
