What makes it 38% Baby-Friendly: Babies are allowed, but parents face gravel paths, no stroller rentals, and no restrooms or changing tables within 20 minutes, making only a very short visit practical.
Note: Chisuji Falls is 38% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Hakone for a more suitable experience.
Why 1 hour visit duration is ideal for with baby: Short walk and no facilities make a 1-hour visit enough for a baby-friendly outing.
Quick viewing deck stop:
Reach the small viewing deck to see thin streams over mossy rock.
Tip: Use a baby carrier for safety; deck access has steps.
Station restroom break:
Use Kowakudani Station toilets before and after the falls visit.
Tip: Carry a portable changing mat; bring wipes as station has no baby seats.
Trailhead picnic rest:
Stop at trail entrance benches for feeding and baby’s nap.
Tip: Pack light snacks and a small blanket to sit off the path.

Entrance has moved! First one tagged is now private property so enter around the south side past the hotel looking for this second marker.

(As of Oct 2025) Ultimately found the waterfall with AllTrails. See pictures - 1, 2) get to the location at the blue dot on map, 3) will see a sign pointing to the falls, 4) first part of walk is next to a construction area on the left and hotels on the right, 5) then will see the sign in middle of the trail and go into the forest, 6) should arrive at falls within 5 minutes

YOU CAN STILL VISIT THE FALLS!! Only one entrance closed! (Probably because the owner of the private land got sick of disrespectful tourists 🙃) Head down Chisujinotaki St in front of the Mikawaya Ryokan. It is a beautiful short walk with a small but gorgeous falls!

Look for the building/sign in photo with "parking" on it. Follow the road, will pass white chisuji sign. Keep going down main path until you see the wooden sign with 5 on it (see photo), then go down that t...

The walk back was a bit intense in one neighborhood carrying a 25-pound toddler up a steep hill, but it was brief. We caugh...
Visit in mid-spring or autumn to see fresh green maple leaves or red foliage while avoiding summer heat and slippery rain-season trails.
