We really enjoyed all of the model's and history of japanese castles. The views are stunning. Taking the rope way up is very unique. Skip the 3rd floor folks...If there's a trap... it's this one

Visiting atami you Must have to visit the castle , nice experience and good exhibition in the first floors , the rooftview is breathtaking . You can visit it alone or in groups , although please take the bus from the station since in holidays the buses will not make stops in between making it more difficult for access.

The view from this tourist castle is nice. And the samurai museum is cool. But remember this was created I the 1950's to attract tourists so it's not a real castle. There's plenty of parking if you drive right up to the castle.
Late March–early April offers cherry blossoms around the castle grounds. In summer, view Atami’s fireworks from the tower. Clear winter days give the sharpest bay views.
