How Baby-Friendly is Nokonoshima Island?

View Map

What makes it 76% Baby-Friendly: Nursing rooms, diaper stations and ¥300 stroller rentals aid caregivers, but hilly paths, ferry gaps and peak-season crowds can make pushing a pram tiring and slow.

Positives:

  • Baby-friendly facilities: The park offers free nursing rooms, diaper-changing stations, and stroller rentals.
  • Stroller-friendly paths: Wide paved walkways make moving around with a stroller easy.

Challenges:

  • Uneven ground outside main park: Some grassy or retro street areas have cobblestones or slight slopes that may bump the stroller.
  • Limited shade in summer: Flower fields have few shaded spots; bring a sun hat and umbrella.

A good half day trip for your Fukuoka stay. 10 minutes boat ride from Meinohama ferry and another 10 mins shuttle ride from the ferry station to the park. Beautiful landscapes and great view of Fukuoka bay area. Park features different flowers around the year, dependent on the season. There’s a nice grill restaurant where we ate.

The island is so peaceful. We rented bike for 1000yen near the port. Had a hard time riding a bike uphill since I get tired easily and it’s a hot summer day. But riding a bike downhill is an amazing experience, best decision than riding a bus. We get to roam around the island on our own time. The staff at the bike rental gave us a map showing the bike trail separated from the main road. The staff ...

It is a peaceful and beautiful island. If you are a traveller in Fukuoka, it is a must visit. It doesn’t cost that much but the scenery this place can offer is top tier. The sunflower is in season of summer and every different season they offer different flowers. They also have restaurants and offer sumptuous meals and recreational activities you may enjoy.
