The Westin Excelsior, Rome (couple trip)

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Westin Excelsior in Rome. Beautiful and elegant hotel. They have attentive staff and they cleaned the room everyday and provided free bottles of water and some jelly candies. They also had a welcome gift of wine and snacks upon arrival. We were too busy with activities that we were not able to fully enjoy the hotel but from what we did, we were very happy. Location is quiet and great. Not too far from 2 train stations.

First, the hotel receptionists were extremely unfriendly. When we arrived at the hotel they did not smile or greet us, which felt racist. Timeless Charm with a Quirky Edge I loved to come back to this hotel after so many years. It’s like stepping into a time capsule—grand, old-world, and unapologetically itself. Many of the employees have been here for 15, 30, even 40 years, and it shows. They’re not shy about showing if they’re having a bad day or about making it clear who runs the place.
