How Baby-Friendly is Mouth of Truth?

50%Baby-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 50% Baby-Friendly: A stroller fits the portico, yet cobblestones bump wheels, no nursing or changing area exists, and long standing lines can upset a baby, so stay outside or keep the stop brief.

Positives:

  • Stroller Access: The portico is step-free so you can wheel a stroller right up to the mask.
  • Quick Visit: You can cover the main highlights in under an hour, fitting baby naps and feeds.

Challenges:

  • Crowds and Queues: Lines form quickly at the mask. Standing too long can upset your baby.
  • Limited Baby Facilities: No changing tables or nursing rooms on site. Plan breaks at nearby cafés.

Wheelchair access via a gate right by the mouth of truth. A helpful member of staff opened it for us. Step to get in which was somewhat challenging. Church attached was nice for a quick visit.

Nice small tourist location with "la bocca della verità", a small, beautiful church and gift shop. I had to wait for about 15 minutes to get to the mouth. The security there was very helpful and made sure that everyone had a moment to take photos and then move along. It's a lovely place worth the short wait!
