What makes it 50% Baby-Friendly: A stroller fits the portico, yet cobblestones bump wheels, no nursing or changing area exists, and long standing lines can upset a baby, so stay outside or keep the stop brief.
Why 0.5–1 hour visit duration is ideal for with baby: A quick visit lets you see the mask, stroll the piazza, and peek inside the church without overtaxing your baby’s schedule.
Mask Photo from Public Path:
Take your family photo of the Mouth of Truth from the free, step-free walkway.
Tip: No fee and easy for strollers; hold your baby securely while you snap the shot.
Stroller-Friendly Piazza Stroll:
Walk around Piazza Bocca della Verità and admire nearby temples.
Tip: The flat square works well for strollers; watch for uneven cobblestones.
Brief Church Interior Visit:
Step inside Santa Maria in Cosmedin to see its medieval columns and mosaics.
Tip: Entry is free; skip if it’s too crowded or your baby is unsettled.
In summer, visit before 10 AM or after 4 PM to avoid peak heat and crowds. In cooler months, layer your baby for the breezy portico.

Wheelchair access via a gate right by the mouth of truth. A helpful member of staff opened it for us. Step to get in which was somewhat challenging. Church attached was nice for a quick visit.

Anyone that has seen Roman Holiday has visited the "Mouth of Truth" when in Rome. Fun and a great diversion.

Nice small tourist location with "la bocca della verità", a small, beautiful church and gift shop. I had to wait for about 15 minutes to get to the mouth. The security there was very helpful and made sure that everyone had a moment to take photos and then move along. It's a lovely place worth the short wait!

A long line but it goes fast. You give someone your phone and they take like 20 pictures of you very fast.
