This review is just for the grounds in and around Sforzesco Castle, which are free. Strolling around the grounds you can get a sense what life was like in 15th and 16th century Milan, at least for the leaders, in particular, Leonardo da Vinci's patron Ludovico il Moro. It is quite an impressive castle and the park surrounding it offers places to relax and maybe enjoy some people watching.

I must see. We weren’t planning on going here but we went and it was absolutely fabulous tons of history beautiful grounds very nice people to help show you the way. I would definitely recommend anyone to stop by here. Plan to spend two or three hours.

My sister and I did a walk around the castle at night when it was lit. It was already closed so we did not get a chance to go in but having a chance to look at a living piece of history in modern day is just breathtaking. Would highly recommend seeing this in person!

Tremendous castle museum, well worth spending a morning or afternoon here. Packed full with art of every kind, from paintings to sculpture to furniture and other material culture items. Buildings themselves also of interest. Lockers in the basement to store bags, which are not allowed in the paid areas. Very good value. Could make more money by charging more and having a bigger gift shop.

The inner courtyards are stunning—grand but oddly peaceful, with locals sitting in the shade or...
In spring, the castle courtyard blooms and park flowers peak. Summer brings midday heat—visit galleries early. Fall light enhances courtyard textures. Winter weekends are quiet, but dress warmly for rooftop breezes.
