What makes it 72% Baby-Friendly: Smooth ramps, elevators, and baby-changing toilets support a stroller visit, yet some galleries lack lifts and no dedicated nursing room exists, so feeding and nap breaks need extra planning.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to explore the courtyards, enjoy the park, and a short museum visit without rushing the baby.
Stroll the Castle Courtyards:
Walk along the flat, smooth pathways of the outer courtyards.
Tip: Use the stroller-friendly ramps and start early to avoid midday crowds.
Picnic in Parco Sempione:
Relax on shaded lawns behind the castle.
Tip: Bring snacks and a blanket; choose benches near the fountain for shade.
Access Museums via Elevator:
Visit select museum rooms using the castle lift.
Tip: Contact the Infopoint at Torre del Filarete on arrival to arrange pram access.
Use Baby-Changing Facilities:
Locate restrooms with changing tables in the courtyards.
Tip: Ask staff for the nearest room next to the Museo Egizio entrance.

This review is just for the grounds in and around Sforzesco Castle, which are free. Strolling around the grounds you can get a sense what life was like in 15th and 16th century Milan, at least for the leaders, in particular, Leonardo da Vinci's patron Ludovico il Moro. It is quite an impressive castle and the park surrounding it offers places to relax and maybe enjoy some people watching.

I must see. We weren’t planning on going here but we went and it was absolutely fabulous tons of history beautiful grounds very nice people to help show you the way. I would definitely recommend anyone to stop by here. Plan to spend two or three hours.

My sister and I did a walk around the castle at night when it was lit. It was already closed so we did not get a chance to go in but having a chance to look at a living piece of history in modern day is just breathtaking. Would highly recommend seeing this in person!

Tremendous castle museum, well worth spending a morning or afternoon here. Packed full with art of every kind, from paintings to sculpture to furniture and other material culture items. Buildings themselves also of interest. Lockers in the basement to store bags, which are not allowed in the paid areas. Very good value. Could make more money by charging more and having a bigger gift shop.

Sforzesco Castle feels less like a tourist attraction and more like a time machine parked in the middle of Milan. I visited on a sunny afternoon, and walking through the massive gates felt like entering another world—one that echoes with the footsteps of dukes, soldiers, artists, and everyday Milanese. The inner courtyards are stunning—grand but oddly peaceful, with locals sitting in the shade or...
In summer, use shaded park areas and carry sun protection. In spring, enjoy blooming trees in Parco Sempione. In cooler months, dress in layers for breezy courtyards.
