What makes it 77% Kids-Friendly: Kids enjoy statue scavenger games and gelato nearby, and the flat paving lets them move easily, but crowds, no playground, and nothing to climb mean parents must supervise closely.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows kids to explore sculptures, toss coins, and enjoy gelato without rushing.
Statue Detective under Loggia dei Lanzi:
Find famous sculptures like Cellini’s Perseus and the Medici Lions
Tip: Bring a printed map or use info panels to help kids identify each statue.
Fountain of Neptune Play:
Let kids toss a coin and make a wish at the Neptune fountain
Tip: Bring spare change or buy inexpensive coins nearby for the ritual.
Scavenger Hunt Tour:
Join a tablet-led treasure hunt that turns statues into clues
Tip: Book in advance online to secure a tablet for each child.
Gelato Break at Perché No!:
Enjoy classic Tuscan gelato just off the square
Tip: Order a separate scoop for each child and try kid-friendly flavors like stracciatella.
Visit early morning in summer to avoid crowds and heat. In winter, bundle kids in layers as the open square can be windy.

We stayed right in the square, great location to be, along distance from all popular sites and shopping. Low noise at night so sleeping wasn't a problem.

Wonderful piazza 🥰 we stopped here to let our son scoot freely. Simply staring around feels like a gift because of its beauty. You will find a replica of David here and Perseus with Medusa’s head. Florence is indeed a heaven for art lovers.

A stunning piazza with an amazing array of statues including a statue of David which looks small against the amazing backdrop of buildings. We were lucky to listen to an orchestra one evening as well. A great place to sit and people watch in the evenings.
