What makes it 70% Kids-Friendly: Kids can ride the Florence Eye, skate the 320 m rink and enter Santa’s Village, but attractions are seasonal and there is no permanent playground, so check dates and expect crowds at fairs.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This gives time for an open-air walk, a Ferris wheel ride and ice skating without rushing.
Self-guided fortress walk:
Explore the ramparts, moat and open grounds at your own pace.
Tip: Let kids run along the wide paths and discover hidden corners.
Florence Eye panoramic wheel:
Ride the 55 m Ferris wheel for sweeping city views from enclosed cabins.
Tip: Book family tickets online to skip the ticket line on busy days.
Ice skating rink:
Glide on the 320 m outdoor track circling the fortress pond.
Tip: Rent skates on-site and arrive early to avoid peak crowds.
Mostra Internazionale dell’Artigianato:
Watch artisans at work and join hands-on craft workshops.
Tip: Buy the two-parents family pass for free child entry and workshop discounts.

FYI- I was told it was only for private events. So you can walk around it, see the medieval fortress from the outside, and explore the cute city park and lake nearby (Fontana della Fortezza da Basso), but you won’t be able to see much inside. I recommend a nice sit on a bench under a tree with the chirping crocuses around!!! Much of the outside of the fortress is also under construction as of July...

Whether it's a fashion event like Pitti Uomo or another international exhibition, Fortezza provides a unique and inspiring backdrop. The blend of beautifully preserved historical elements, like the ancient walls and internal monuments, with dedicated, modern exhibition spaces like the Spadolini and Cavaniglia Pavilions, creates a truly dynamic atmosphere. Beyond its impressive event capabilities, ...

Recommended doing a tour in the historical part, otherwise it's just a place for events.

Looks pretty cool outside but currently have areas under construction (maybe in preparation for the jubilee next year). Separate buildings inside where multiple events are hosted (sometimes simultaneously). Very accessible with stops for the bus and the tram just outside the entrance.

Beautiful, I made a walk all around and it changes from a relaxing European style park with pond, ducks and beautifully made fountain that looks like a spring from a rock, than urban city style then modern again. Inside there are big venues and beautifully preserved monuments.
In December–January the Santa’s Village and ice rink open with free shows and paid skating. The craft fair runs in late April–early May. In summer look for evening guided tours. Check official dates before you go.
