U16s enter free or cheaply and open grassy areas let them move before kickoff, making a first GAA outing fun. Inside, noise, long toilet lines, and no play zones mean parents must supervise closely.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Arrive early to picnic, watch a lower-division match, and stroll nearby without rushing kids.
Attend a lower-division match:
Watch a Gaelic football or hurling league game with smaller crowds.
Tip: Under-16s enter free with adult; buy adult tickets online in advance.
Picnic on the stadium green:
Spread a blanket on the grass by the main entrance.
Tip: Pack sandwiches and water; arrive 30 minutes before kickoff to claim a spot.
Stroll the Salthill seafront:
Follow the “Connaught Serenity” route along the promenade.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and bring a windbreaker for sea breezes.
Grab pre-match treats:
Visit local cafés for seafood chowder or pastries.
Tip: Try Murty Rabbitt’s for a kid-friendly menu and hot chocolate.
Matches run Feb–June when weather is mild. Pack a rain jacket and sunhat for changing conditions.

This is the home of Galway Hurling & Football. A basic but nice stadium with a capacity of circa 26000. Fabulous on a sunny day but be sure to bring a coat/jacket if it is not summer conditions. Because even if fine it gets quite cold there. 1 covered stand with good seating but be there early as this fills up first. Plenty of basic toilet facilities . Usually a burger van (Super Macs )and a few t...

A great day ay Pearse Stadium with the new grandstand and a vocal cowd who cheered home the locals to a solid victory over Wexford 1-29 to 2 -16. Far too many mistakes from Wexford and the better team won on the day. This was our 1st visit to the park in 2 years and we were very impressed with the improvements to the seating and ground capacity which was nowhere near full on the day..

A fine stadium. Just a pity that the children can't view the game on a busy game day from the terrace as their view is generally obstructed by taller people. Also then when they go down to the fence, that's too tough for them to look out over it.

Very modern stand, good seating, toilets very modern. Very well equipped area for food service. Very nice for a visit.

Facilities are poor and, as Galway is a big GAA county, there is a big need for an upgrade. But the place does have a great atmosphere which is why you'd be coming here in the first place. I'm here for the Dublin match later but I've attached a few photos and a short video of Galway v Limerick in hurling.
