  • Small-group interaction: Tours and workshops limit numbers, making it easy to ask questions and chat with guides.
  • Free outdoor access: You can roam the exterior grounds and friary without paying a fee.

Challenges:

  • Limited tour schedule: Tours run only a few days a week in peak season—check dates before you go.
  • Uneven surfaces: Stone floors and grassy banks can be slippery when wet, so wear sturdy shoes.

I definitely do not regret visiting. Combined with the ongoing exhibition of exotic flowers, it made for a pleasant trip. However, we could see only a small part of the tower itself, and on its own it was not that impressive.

Great experience. Rooms are excellent. The tower, with all of the suits of armour, ancient weaponry, and interesting furniture and fittings, is completely accessible. Wonderful place. This castle is a magical place and a MUST SEE if you're in Ireland. The magnificence of it truly cannot be captured, it must be experienced. We had a tour by Mike, one of the people involved in the restoration of the property, and he was so incredibly knowledgeable and kind. If you're lucky enough to book an AirBNB stay, it will be an experience you take with you always.
