What makes it 87% Kids-Friendly: Kids get a ship-themed playground, scooter-safe paths, open fields and a small skatepark, while parents have benches and toilets, yet no indoor shelter or staffed supervision means rainy or crowded days can be tricky.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This allows time for playground fun, a picnic, a nature walk and a quick birdwatching stop without tiring the kids.
Inclusive Playground:
Explore the wooden ship, slides, swings, monkey bars and separate toddler zone with sensory panels.
Tip: Arrive early to grab a bench near the playground and keep an eye on both play areas.
Willow Zen Garden:
Walk through the living willow tunnels for creative hide-and-seek play.
Tip: Bring a change of clothes—kids often crawl and may get muddy inside the willow maze.
Picnic & Play at Shaded Lawns:
Set up at shaded tables next to the playground and open lawns for al fresco meals.
Tip: Pick up local cheese, soda bread and pastries at Fairview Strand cafés before you arrive.
Riverside Birdwatching:
Scan the Clontarf Creek mudflats at low tide to spot herons, curlews and ducks.
Tip: Check online tide times and pack binoculars to help children see distant birds.
Band Pavilion Events:
Catch free summer concerts at the park’s small bandstand.
Tip: Look up Dublin City Council’s events calendar and bring a blanket for seating.

Such a great park—lots of space, a big playground, and the Saturday park runs are the best!

Unbelievable park, great for practising cartwheels. Recently I’ve taken up cartwheeling and I’ve gotten to the stage where I can do 10 in a row (I’m 63) and I put it all down to the wonderful Fairview park. Lots and lots of space and hopefully I’ll be able to cartwheel 20 times in a row soon. Also you can do a wee if you need to down the back on the dart station wall! There is a man called Paul th...

Lovely park for a walk, sports activities and kid play area in it. Good grass surface to suitable for team sports like hurling, cricket. Pets are allowed here. For car parking we can use the parking space outside the fairview park along the road(paid from Mon to sat) (Sunday free).

This is a beautiful park with huge fields to play hurling and football, to sit and have a picnic, and even lie down and sunbathe (when Dublin’s weather allows). There’s a basketball court, plenty of benches to sit on, a playground for kids and a lovely green area.
Visit April–September for floral bedding displays and willow garden in full leaf. In summer head to the willow garden at midday for shade. After rain paths may be muddy—pack waterproof shoes.
