How Kids-Friendly is Uluwatu Temple?

Kids love spotting monkeys and chanting along at the Kecak show, yet sheer cliffs, few railings, and basic toilets demand close supervision. No play areas or child-friendly extras exist.

Considerations for visiting Uluwatu Temple (with kids)

Positives:

  • Cultural Learning: Kids learn Balinese stories through the Kecak performance.
  • Ocean Views: Families can enjoy wide ocean panoramas from cliff viewpoints.
  • Free Sarong Rental: Temple provides free sarong and sash so you only need comfortable clothes.

Challenges:

  • Steep and Uneven Paths: Several sections have stairs and rocky ground requiring adult supervision.
  • Bold Monkeys: Macaques may try to snatch loose items; secure belongings in bags.
  • Limited Shade: Few shaded spots along the cliff path; bring hats and sunscreen.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: 2-3 hours lets you see the temple, monkey area, and watch the Kecak dance without rushing kids.

One of the most iconic temples in Bali, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. The view at sunset is absolutely stunning — a must-see experience. The atmosphere is peaceful and deeply spiritual, and it's one of the most sacred sites for Balinese Hindus. You can also enjoy the traditional Kecak dance performance at the open-air theatre during sunset — a unique cultural exper...

Been there by rental bike and there was bit traffic on the way but reached on time. This place is for all kids families and adults and one can enjoy cliffs view including a sunset or sunrise. At the entrance buy tickets and get the dress on as part of local tradition then get in to explore the place and its history. It’s so peaceful and there is statues other side. Spiritually at its best surround...

Stunning cliffside temple with ocean views and cultural charm. Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur Uluwatu) is one of Bali’s most iconic sea temples, perched dramatically on the edge of a 70-meter-high cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. The views here are absolutely breathtaking, especially during sunset, when the sky glows and waves crash against the rocks below — a photographer’s dream! The temple its...
