Positives:

  • Cultural learning: Children learn local Hindu rituals through the interactive purification ceremony.
  • Free entry for under 5s: Kids under five enter free, making it budget-friendly for families.
  • Rest and play spots: Shaded benches and open courtyards let families take breaks and picnic.

Challenges:

  • Slippery pool area: Wet stone floors near pools can be slippery; supervise children closely.
  • Limited baby-care facilities: No dedicated nursing rooms or changing tables; bring portable mats.
  • Cold water: Spring water feels cold; consider skipping purification for sensitive children.

Visiting Tirta Empul was an unforgettable spiritual experience. The temple architecture is stunning, and bathing under the stone spouts filled me with calm and clarity. Having a guide made it simple to follow the proper steps, understand each fountain’s meaning, and feel more connected. Even though it gets busy, entering early made a difference. I left feeling refreshed, peaceful, and deeply respe...

I was here without a guide and was hoping to hire one at the site. Surprisingly the “guides” were not aggressively promoting themselves and it took some time for me to actually get one. But I’m glad I did, because the guide helped me understand more about the purification and the process, as well as the cultural and historical background of them.

Beautiful place. Lots of great architecture and statues. Unfortunately I may have been in the background of a lot of tiktoks and people doing it for the gram which took away from the beauty. Busy and crowded on a Saturday morning, but worth it nonetheless. Not sure about the other reviews that complain, it is what it is. 5 stars for the temple, 1 star for the complaining tourists. Don't travel/go...

I would give 4 Stars if less entry fees. The temple is nice, but except for the holy spring, average to other big temples. It was not too crowded when we visited on a Thursday late morning. Normally lots of esoteric/ spiritual western people there to take a bath in the holy water. For them it may be a 5 Star location. Currently several constructions ongoing. Up the hill is some location, from wher...

Nice temple , peaceful and culturally rich. To enter, you need to cover your legs, but a sarong is provided for free at the entrance, which is very convenient. After the visit, there’s a local market along the exit path where you can browse souvenirs and traditional products. A lovely and authentic experience!
