Babies have shade from rented umbrellas and resort toilets nearby, but uneven sand blocks strollers, no changing rooms exist, and loud surf may disturb naps.
Note: Black Sand Beach is 40% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Bali for a more suitable experience.
Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to explore the shoreline, rest under shade, and take breaks with your baby.
Stroll on black volcanic sand:
Walk the soft black sand near the water’s edge and watch local fishermen cast nets.
Tip: Bring closed-toe sandals for stable footing and stop under shaded trees every 15–20 minutes.
Rent umbrella and sunbed:
Set up under a rented umbrella with sunbeds to rest and nurse your baby.
Tip: Confirm half-day rental price (around 50,000 IDR) before you settle in.
Visit nearby warung for rest:
Pop into a beachside warung for snacks, drinks, and basic restroom access.
Tip: Order a simple meal (around 20,000–30,000 IDR) to use the warung’s clean toilet for diaper changes.

Drove for hours to get there and there was nothing worth seeing

Sadly it was full of waste. Black Sand is here but also a lot of bigger stones. So it is not a easy way into the water. Also there was a dead dog laying on the beach. But you will most likely not see any other people.

beautiful beach with black sand. a lot of rubbish at the high tide mark. very few people, mostly locals and not many tourists at all. a nice and curious contrast to white sand beach nearby. a must visit if you’re in padang bai!
