The uncrowded reef break, cheap board rental, cliff viewpoint, and warung hangouts give solo travelers plenty to surf, photograph, and mingle; they must manage valuables and safety with no lifeguard.
Why 4-5 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Gives time to surf, hike the cliff trail, explore tide pools, and relax at a warung
Surf the left-hand reef break:
Join a group lesson or rent a board and ride consistent waves
Tip: Rent gear at Balangan Wave Surf School early to avoid queues
Cliff-trail hike:
Follow jungle-lined steps to the viewpoint above the beach
Tip: Go at sunrise or late afternoon for soft light and cooler temperatures
Explore tide pools:
Walk the reef flats at low tide to spot small fish and crabs
Tip: Wear water shoes and check tide times before you go
Beach-club chill:
Grab a beanbag at Froggy’s Warung or Unique Rooftop Bar
Tip: Order a drink to access free Wi-Fi and mingle with other travelers

Balangan Beach is a scenic cliffside gem with golden sand, powerful waves, and fewer crowds than other Bali beaches. Great for sunsets and surfers, with epic views from the top. The vibe is raw, peaceful, and photogenic — one of Bali’s underrated beauties.

A mission to get to, but worth the effort. A beautiful and clean surfing beach. Not much space to lay in the sun and sunbathe, but great waves and views. Wide range of restaurants to visit also.

Out of the way beach that was very quiet when we were there. Very soft, white sand and many surfers and surf schools. They try to sell you a beach lounge for around 200k for 2 and they seem to not be associated with the restaurants.
