What makes it 71% Kids-Friendly: Children can pretend to be knights on low walls and enjoy a short, partly paved trail, yet parents must supervise closely because uneven stones, steps and zero safety railings raise fall risk.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A 2-3 hour visit lets families explore lanes, climb ruins, and rest without rushing kids.
Alley Treasure Hunt:
Let kids spot hidden doors and blue-domed chapels in narrow lanes.
Tip: Make a checklist of doors and crosses. Reward kids with a small treat when they find each.
Castle Ruins Adventure:
Climb low stone walls and explore the flat summit like little knights.
Tip: Bring a bandana for imaginary knight play and let kids lead the exploration.
Easy Trail Walk:
Follow the 0.8-mile paved route from village center to summit with snack stops.
Tip: Stop halfway at a shaded spot for water and a granola bar.
Tavern Family Meal:
Enjoy child-friendly plates like pasta and fries at a village taverna.
Tip: Ask for high chairs and order mild grilled meats your kids can share.

The most beautiful place on the island! Peaceful sunset with no crowds of people around you was a cherry on a cake of Santorini. Would definitely recommend to visit.

Lovely place for a visit. Pass several hours looking at the lovely arts and crafts. All locally made, very interesting .

Nice place but not my favorite, Fira is way better than Pyrgos but Pyrgos is worth it only if you have extra time or if you have nothing else to do on the island. Not crowded. Nice to walk, there a some restaurants and shops.
Andreas Nielsen
The castle itself is located at the top of the town. A very charming Town not as crowded as Fira or Oia. Cute cafes and restaurants around the town. Parking is all the way down by the food of the town around the square. Becides from Fira you’ll also be able to spot donkeys in this town.
Visit early morning or late afternoon in summer to avoid heat. Winter winds can be strong – bring a windbreaker.
