Children up to 12 can crank levers, attend family workshops, and safely run in the small garden, while bilingual staff demos turn science into play; only minor risk is some fragile exhibits needing supervision.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time for hands-on exhibits, live demos and a break without tiring young children.
Interactive Hands-On Exhibits:
Let kids press levers, turn cranks and watch ancient robots come alive.
Tip: Arrive when doors open to avoid queues at popular displays.
Live Demonstration Shows:
Watch staff activate water clocks, automata and ancient engines.
Tip: Pick up demo times at the entrance and plan around them.
Family Puzzle Workshop:
Solve ancient communication puzzles and operate the Antikythera Mechanism.
Tip: Book online a day in advance; small fee applies.
Courtyard Snack Break:
Enjoy ice-cream or drinks in the safe garden space between exhibits.
Tip: Grab snacks at the café early to secure seating for little ones.
In summer, use the air-conditioned halls to cool off and catch afternoon demos. In winter, verify opening hours on rainy days.

We really enjoyed this museum – small but very interesting. We visited it in less than an hour but stayed another half hour upstairs playing with the fun logic games. Most exhibits actually work, and the staff is very dedicated, friendly and happy to explain and demonstrate. The building itself is impressive, from the Venetian period. A lovely experience, highly recommended!

Fascinating museum full of gadgets, devices, machines, games and a ‘robot’ that really open your eyes to how advanced the Greeks were back in their day. Helpful, enthusiastic staff perform demonstrations and show how some of this tech worked. Had to buy the book showing everything that is displayed in detail as there was a lot of information to take in. I would say 1 to 1,5 hours should cover it u...

Two floor museum able to be seen in 45-60 minutes, with very interesting view of Ancient Greek technology (particularly between 6th and 3rd centuries BC). Most displays include information about a specific invention, including how it worked, when it was invented, and a visual of what it looked like (model, recreation, or video). Though none of the items are from the time period it was a good way t...

Cool and unique museum. Very helpful staff who gave very good and informed explanations and demonstrations. The ancient Greeks really came up with so many scientific, mathematical and technological inventions e.g. the first alarm clock and the first robot. Nice to see a display cabinet on Hippocrates and Galen.

Fantastic and unique small museum! Not your typical museum. This one concentrates on Greek technology, and there are some surprises there too! Lots of well crafted and displayed artifacts, many of which are interactive. Some of these should be done by the docent but it is not clearly signed as such. Ellie was a great docent and made the visit special. They also have a cafe upstairs with food...
