Couples get a west-facing sandy cove for sunset walks, waterside tavern meals and tandem kayak trips; limited nightlife and high-season crowding reduce but do not spoil romance.
Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Allows time for a swim, sunset stroll, kayaking and a relaxed seaside dinner
Sunset walk on the sandy shore:
Stroll hand-in-hand along the west-facing bay as the sun dips into the sea.
Tip: Arrive 30 minutes before sunset for the best light and quieter beach section.
Dinner at a seaside taverna:
Share fresh fish or Cretan meze with local wine right by the water.
Tip: Call ahead to reserve a waterside table and ask about daily catch specials.
Double-kayak trip:
Paddle a two-person kayak together to explore hidden coves around Lygaria Bay.
Tip: Book the kayak for a late afternoon hour to combine paddling with sunset views.
Snorkeling from shore:
Swim out with a mask and snorkel to discover clear-water fish and rocky seabed.
Tip: Bring your own gear to save on rental fees and go when the water is calm mid-morning.
In summer bring high-SPF sunscreen and a hat. In spring and autumn the water stays cool until noon, so plan swims after 11 AM.

Beautiful beach with a mix of locals and tourists. Not too busy, but gets bussier at the end of the day. Great restaurant choices to choose from and the water is absolutely stunning. Take a look on the cliff on the left side and get a great view of the bay. The right side has a smaller cliff on the end which is absolutely recommended to take a dive or look and see how clear and blue the water gets...

Small beach with umbrellas. 2 sunbeds and umbrella 7€. Entrance to the sea: rock, pebbles and a little sand. Restaurants near. In the beach only one small supermarket.

Very crowded on a Sunday with extremely choppy water while we were there. Sand beach, with restaurants along the way and some gorgeous places to take pics on either end of the beach. Staying here, we enjoyed it, but might not be worth a drive…

Great beach! Got there around 2 pm, nobody charged me for the sunbed. A bit slippery when you go in, but it's truly a small beautiful oasis. Would return

Great beach, choice of restaurants to eat from. Good walking areas. Public washroom potty, and changing room available. Only draw back is steep drive down to beach, with sharp turns where you are blind to on coming cars. Drive carefully.
