A solo traveler can swim safely under lifeguard watch, try affordable water-sports, use free showers and parking, and relax on quiet stretches, but aircraft noise slightly reduces serenity.

Positives:

  • Safety and facilities: Lifeguards patrol from 10:00 to 18:00. Showers and toilets are free by the entrance.
  • Easy access: Free parking is steps from the sand. City buses and local vendors stop at the main road above the beach.

Challenges:

  • Limited shade: Few natural trees line the shore. Plan to rent an umbrella or carry sun protection.
  • Afternoon winds: Strong meltemi winds after midday can make swimming rough and unsettle umbrellas.

No sunbeds were free and we would have had to put our names on a waiting list and most likely we would have had to wait for at least an hour. The beach itself is nice but I highly recommend bringing your own umbrella.

Very nice and semi wild beach. Slow entrance into the sea. No steps or something. Ideal for small kids. You can walk 50m from the shoreline and the water is knee deep

Overall a good beach close to heraklion airport. It has a bar, 6€ for 2 sunbeds, prices for drinks are decent. If the weather is not great you can walk and see the planes landing

Nice and clean beach, not to busy. It is a free of entry beach. Enough space, and a few nice and kind of different beach clubs. Chears and umbrellas not expensive, from so 4 euro. Perfect for plane spotting and taking pictures of landing planes.
