Level ground suits strollers and benches aid a nap break, but no on-site restrooms, changing tables, cover, or nursing space means every feed or change requires a nearby café visit.
Why 1–2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for a calm stroller walk, café stop and a short nap break without overtaxing the baby.
Morning Stroller Walk:
Wheel the stroller around the fully paved square before crowds arrive.
Tip: Start around 8 am when the air is cool and the square is quiet.
Bench Nap Break:
Use the stone benches around the fountain to rock the stroller gently.
Tip: Choose a bench under a plane tree for extra shade during summer.
Café Stop with High Chairs:
Visit Valide Brunch Cafe or Svelto Coffee & Snack nearby.
Tip: Both cafés have high chairs and changing areas—order herbal tea or juice for a refresh.
Quick Fountain View:
Admire the four lion-head spouts up close.
Tip: Snap a few photos while the baby watches the water flow—it’s soothing for them.
In summer, visit before 10 am or after 5 pm to avoid heat and crowds. In spring and autumn, you can linger longer in mild weather.

Toni Mela
The area is kind of dirty and in a bit poor shape. Only the center part of the fountain is in use. Not really worth a visit at least in daytime, but maybe it looks better in the dark.

This is a go to place in Heraklion. There are even bike lanes in the city which is really helpful, especially for cyclists like us. This is also a very good place to hang out and offers a stunning view of the horizon.
Vasilis Papamichalis
Part of the coastal walkway of Heraklion with a place for skateboards and open space for kids (and adults) to play. The fountain is very nicely lit during the night adding value to the promenade. It can get very cold during winter nights so dress accordingly but is very pleasant during summer nights.
