What makes it 78% Kids-Friendly: Children enjoy a free playground, safe wide paths and cheap educational workshops, but unfenced ponds, limited toilets with no kid seats and an August closure require close parental planning.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for a self-guided walk, a nature treasure hunt and a snack break without rushing younger children.
Self-guided themed walk:
Follow the marked paths through bamboo, herb and rose sections.
Tip: Pick up a free garden map at the entrance and set a slow pace for little legs.
Nature treasure hunt:
Give kids a list: find a bamboo stalk, spot koi fish and smell three herbs.
Tip: Write or print the list in advance and reward kids with ice cream at the café.
Playground pit stop:
Let kids unwind on the shaded play area near the café.
Tip: Bring a small ball or toy; picnic tables are nearby for drinks and snacks.
Educational workshop:
Join a puppet-theatre show or hands-on planting session in the nursery.
Tip: Book workshops by phone before visiting; cost is €2–€6 per child.

One of Athens hidden secrets. This garden is a vibrant, peaceful escape. The collection of plants is stunning, and the different plant zones make for an interesting and educational visit. Highly recommend visiting for instant tranquility!

Huge fenced in park. Part of it has species of plants from all over the world, labeled in Greek and Latin. Part of it is natural forest. There is a wildlife conservation area, play areas for kids, and a memorial monument. We had a long, delightful walk in the shady forest listening to cicadas and birds. Close to the entry there is noise from the road. There is a large café with a nice playground...

A truly wonderful place! Very well kept, safe and peaceful. Highly recommend you take your own drinks etc, there’s a cafe besides the garden, but not accessible from within. Book online before you go - they allow 300 people at a time.

This is a beautiful garden! The flower garden area is especially lovely, the useful herbs, bamboo, fruit trees, pines, cypress, etc. are all marvelous. The variety of plants and trees is enormous, from every part of the world, and all are labeled with the scientific name in Latin and Greek, as well as the Greek common name.
Visit in spring to see peony and rose blooms. Summer can be hot—arrive by 09:00 or late afternoon and note the garden closes July 15–Aug 31. Autumn offers colorful leaves and pine cone collecting.
