Stroller-friendly routes, benches, a diaper table and gentle animal sights help babies, but some gravel paths, no indoor nursing room and scarce baby food limit long stays.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: A short stroll with stroller breaks and zoo views fits into a baby’s routine without overtiring them.
Stroller-Friendly Paths:
Explore the main entrance on Amalias Avenue and follow wide gravel paths for smooth stroller rides.
Tip: Avoid side trails with low steps; pick up the accessible map at the information kiosk.
Shaded Benches:
Use stone benches under large trees to rest, feed, or change your baby.
Tip: Bring a soft blanket and position near the central pond for calming water views.
Pond Viewing:
Point out ducks and turtles from safe viewing areas along the central and east paths.
Tip: Carry a small bag of bread for feeding on the west pond; stand back from the edge.
Zoo Sightseeing:
See goats, hens, peacocks and other small animals behind low fences.
Tip: Use a baby sling for closer views if the stroller can’t fit under low branches.
Quick Snack at Kafeneio Café:
Grab coffee, juice, ice cream or light snacks under a pergola near the south exit.
Tip: Bring your own baby food; high chairs and dedicated baby meals are not guaranteed.
Visit in spring (March–May) for mild weather and blooming trees. In summer, go early or late to avoid the heat. Pack sun hats and fill water bottles at garden fountains.

Beautiful free park to get lost in for a few hours especially with children! There’s a nice controlled entrance to a fenced in playground. There’s some animal exhibits to observe but no petting. Small enclosure that you’re guaranteed to see sunbathing turtles! Right next to the Syntagma Parliament changing of the guards ceremony.

We enjoyed visiting the National Garden during the day. Some sections of the walk offer shade, so there's no need to worry if you go during daylight hours. The place is nice and quiet, and enjoying nature there was truly pleasant. You'll also find puddles with turtles and fish, as well as a playground for the kids. There is a restrooms near the entrance.

Athens National Garden is spectacular. We spent a couple of hours meandering through. There are many species of trees, some really large and old. I am sure it is very beautiful in May and June with many types of flowers and bushes blooming. There is a great children's playground and library. There is a zoo type area with a few animals and lots of birds. There are many nesting parrots in the ...

This is a wonderful place in the centre of Athens. It’s perfect for some peace especially when it’s 40C in the summer. There is plenty of shade and places to sit down in the park. Lots of walking. There’s also animals, such as turtles and ducks here. Of course there are toilets and a kids playground too. Would recommend for anyone visiting Athens.

The National Garden of Athens is a true oasis in the heart of the city – and we absolutely loved it! 🌿 It’s the perfect place to take a break from the busy streets and enjoy some peace and shade under tall trees and along beautiful walking paths. What makes it even more special for families is that it’s not just a park – it’s also great fun for kids! There are a few playgrounds, plenty of open s...
