What makes it 67% Kids-Friendly: Children enter free and get Histopad games and puzzles, but dark prison stories, many stairs and limited hands-on exhibits may tire under-12s; plan 45-60 min then move on.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for interactive tablets, puzzle guides and photo stops at a relaxed pace.
Children’s Histopad Tour:
Use free 3D tablets to see medieval halls and Marie Antoinette’s cell come alive.
Tip: Pick up devices early; switch to English and share between kids for device limits.
Self-Guided Family Puzzle Guide:
Follow illustrated booklets with spot-the-detail games and simple history facts.
Tip: Collect guides at the desk and let each child find one hidden detail.
Free Kids’ Audio Guide:
Download MyTours app for a storytelling track aimed at young listeners.
Tip: Install and test the audio before arrival to avoid phone data use.
Fun Selfie Spots & Hall of Names:
Pose with themed backdrops and read names of revolution-era figures.
Tip: Bring a pocket-sized camera or phone for quick family photos in the vaults.
Combine with Sainte-Chapelle Visit:
Walk next door to see vibrant stained glass after the austere Conciergerie.
Tip: Purchase combined tickets online to save time and get kids a colorful contrast.

The experience was well organized especially the 3D visuals that can show you how the chambers and other places looked like back in the days!

What an amazing place. Highly recommend going before going to Versailles. Great interactive handheld devices allow you to see what it would have looked like.

If you love history and is fascinated by Marie Antoinette’s journey then definitely go here. They have various books about Marie Antoinette and the French Revolution in different languages and good souvenir items as well. The pad they give you before you start your tour was helpful.

The jail where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution and Kongs Palace from 14th century. Amazing history to be seen with a tablet guide, that shows images from the time... it's actually larger than ot seems. There is a toilet inside unlike most of tourist attractions. This place is a must!!

They have a visual guide shows you how the life was like in the past, which is very interesting to learn, it is easy to use and very informative. I am too busy playing it and totally forgot to take pictures. With museum pass, you can skip the line. Strongly recommend.
On the first Sunday Nov–Mar and European Heritage Days (3rd weekend Sep), entry is free; arrive by opening to beat lines.
