Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon-Fourvière (solo trip)

Wasn't sure what to expect when walking in but this was an amazingly informative museum. It traced the history of Lyon very well and presented all the artifacts with great details. Expect to spend at least 2 hours if you want to read everything and a lot of it is in English too. Highly recommend not skipping this.

Very nice museum. The building itself is very interesting, built like a bunker. The contents are also very interesting there are a lot of really amazing artifacts. They have a lot of kid stuff so it seems to be one of the most family friendly museums I have seen. Would highly recommend visiting. Water fountain with nice cold water on the 5th floor

Such a beautiful and detailed museum! We were able to go in for free and the audio guides were also free which was an unexpected bonus. Perfect place to hide out from the heat for a few hours.

In a word: stunning. The museum holds many very important works of art from the early Roman Empire, some without parallel anywhere else. This was a fantastic museum for anyone with even a slight interest in history. Focused on the Roman Empire and how they founded what is now Lyon back in 43BC. The building itself is amazing. You street at the top which is basically chrome level and you work your way down over 5 levels. Plenty of space and really easy to move around. So many pieces to look at.
