What makes it 85% Kids-Friendly: School-age children can ride the mini train, feed animals, try tie-dye workshops, and watch drone shows; flat paths and indoor play hall add safety, yet long walks may tire them.
Why 1-2 days visit duration is ideal for with kids: A full day covers major attractions; a second day allows leisure workshops and night shows.
Canal Boat Ride:
20-minute boat tour along stone bridges and willow-lined canals
Tip: Kids under 1.2 m ride free; book an afternoon slot to avoid crowds.
Pet Interaction Park:
Feed lambs, rabbits, alpacas and mini-pigs, plus small slides and sand pits
Tip: Bring wipes and a change of clothes for messy fun.
Mini Train & Carousel:
Short loop train ride and classic carousel in the central park area
Tip: Buy tickets early; ride in the morning when lines are shortest.
Children’s Tie-Dye Workshop:
Hands-on fabric dyeing class at Yongshun Dyeing Workshop
Tip: Wear clothes you don’t mind staining; reserve a spot in advance.
Evening Drone Lantern Show:
Nightly light display and folk performances on Sun & Moon Island Square
Tip: Arrive 15 minutes before the 7 pm start for best viewing.

Timing matters! As others have noted if you come on weekday, it will be quite. On weekends it’ll be bustling. We came in a Friday night and it was fairly quiet, but when we left Saturday evening there were so many people and activities - so please plan around this. It’s worthwhile coming imo, it’s no too far from beijing, and the Great Wall is excellent as well. Stay overnight atleast as there i...

Gubei Water Town is a ghost town. Don't waste your time and money coming here unless all you want to do is to hike up the Simatai Great Wall. There were free performances throughout the day at different locations in the water town but they were mostly a disappointment, with the drone show being the exception. It's not spectacular but it's good enough to end a boring day trip to Gubei Water Town. ...

The place also has some exhibitions and performances. There is a lot to expe...

The self-buy computers were not well translated and it was confusing, so we had to queue up and waited for 10 minutes to buy tickets. The town itself is pretty, despite it is man-made. The views are cute and many places to buy food and souvenirs, though expensive. Highly...
Spring and autumn bring mild weather ideal for outdoor walks. Summer afternoons can be hot—pack sun hats and water. Winters are cold in the evening—layer up for night shows.
