What makes it 85% Couple-Friendly: Couples can drive or hike to the summit for romantic sunrise or sunset picnics, beachside walks, and free seating, yet lack of lighting and washrooms after dusk shortens evening stays.
Why 2–3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Enough time to hike or drive to the summit, enjoy a picnic, and watch the sunset without rushing

Drive up Churchill Drive after noon to the summit parking lot and set up a private picnic at dusk.
Tip: Pack a blanket and easy-carry snacks like charcuterie for a relaxed meal
Beachside Wine & Cheese:
Head to Mount Douglas Beach for ocean views, seals, and sunset sips near picnic tables.
Tip: Bring a portable cooler for cheese and wine to keep items fresh
Wildlife & Bird Watching:
Scan tide pools for starfish and hermit crabs, then watch for seals, orcas and waterfowl from the summit or beach.

Tip: Apply online with Saanich Parks at least two weeks before your visit

Stunning views of the city, surrounding island and far horizon. Multiple parking options, with a free one even close to the summit. If you wish to hike, you can park in a lot at lower elevation and make your way up to the summit. We went mid October and parking was plenty. Highly recommended.

Lovely hike! We took Whittaker, Harrop, and Glendenning trails to reach the summit. Hikers should be aware of loose sandy gravel on portions of the trail, but on the whole it was a lovely hike with a beautiful summit!

Its a hard drive (on the engine and brakes coming down) as it is steep to access. You can of course hike it, if you are very fit. At the top, a parking lot lies about 100 yards from the viewpoint at the top. On the top, you have views in all directions and map of sorts that shows you the way to Vancouver, Seattle, Mt Baker, to name a few. Lively Arbutus between the parking lot and top.

If you've got the stamina and you want to make the walk, the views from the peak peak are incredible. Great place to fly your drone so long as you are a decent pilot and can navigate your takeoff and landings within densely treed areas. Even if you don't fly a drone once you get to the peak you have a phenomenal view to take plenty of photos with your camera or cell phone. I freaking love Victoria
In summer, arrive before noon to avoid peak crowds and enjoy extended daylight. Spring brings blooming Garry oaks and wildflowers along the trails.
