What makes it 71% Baby-Friendly: Parents push strollers on paved loops, use lighthouse change tables, rest in indoor shelters, and picnic under oaks. Steep stairs inside the lighthouse and some gravel limit full access.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows a relaxed pace through paved paths, breaks at rest stops, and mini-adventures without rushing with a baby.
Paved Stroller-Friendly Pathways:
Follow the flat, paved loop from the Welcome Centre through the fort and across the causeway to Fisgard Lighthouse.
Tip: Bring sunscreen and plan short breaks at benches for the baby.
Accessible Canteen Rest Stop:
Use the Canteen’s ramp, indoor benches, and shaded porch for feeding or napping the baby.
Tip: Bring diapers and a change mat; grab a cold drink or snack per item.
“At the Ready” Guided App Tour:
Download Parks Canada’s free GPS-triggered tour to learn site history at stroller-friendly stops.
Tip: Download before arrival and carry a portable charger for your phone.
Tide-Pool Exploration:
At low tide near the causeway, look for crabs, fish, and sea stars on the exposed rocks.
Tip: Check tide times in advance and pack sturdy shoes and a small bucket.
Fortress Plotting Room Indoor Shelter:
Step inside this level-entry room for a quiet, wind-sheltered spot when the baby needs a break.
Tip: Use it for feeding, napping, or changing in privacy.

I'm not sure when they start charging to enter this fort because we've been here a few times in the past and there was no entrance fee. Now it's $9.00/head. Was it worth it? Not really as there's nothing much to see except the lighthouse. There should be more things to see so it will be worth it.

It’s a great place to visit, amazing historical sites, it’s like a museum to learn the history of navy and you can touch the “long guns”. Great beach view, seals, birds, navy boats, lighthouses, great place for family to visit.

What a beautiful historic place! Staffs were friendly and very knowledgeable. My favorite was the getting to know medical case and guessing what kind of treatment they were doing at that period. The live demonstration was amazing too. Tried the ice cream here and the chocolate one was great. Good place to bring kids. Will come back!
