What makes it 77% Kids-Friendly: Kids enjoy a fenced playground, open lawns, bike trail, and a life-jacket loaner dock, yet supervision around water and only portable toilets may challenge some parents.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for playground play, a picnic, dock activities, and a short bike ride without overloading kids.
Playground Adventure:
Play on the fully fenced slides and swings designed for ages 3 to 12.
Tip: Bring sunscreen and a change of clothes; shaded benches are nearby.
Dock Swimming & Paddling:
Loan lifejackets at the dock and let kids splash safely in the water.
Tip: Supervise children closely; bring towels and water shoes.
Family Bike Ride:
Ride the flat Galloping Goose Regional Trail from the park entrance.
Tip: Bring helmets and lock bikes to the picnic tables while you rest.
Picnic Under the Trees:
Spread a blanket near the playground for snacks or lunch under shade.
Tip: Arrive before noon to secure a shaded spot in summer.
Tea Garden & Food Forest Exploration:
Walk through the Victoria West tea garden and spot fruit trees and herbs.

Beautiful garden and open field and pathway to the Gorge inlet. Easy walk to Selkirk Bridge.

The place I met on my way to the Victoria West Community Center. A beautiful Gorge water way and a nice Selkirk Trestle bridge catches the eye.

I really love this Park 😀 Water, walking trails, Beach. Plenty of space for all activities, fresh air. Amazing! Lately I've venturing off in the distance but I stayed in city limits. This is a great Park. So many places to adventure to.

This was my second attempt at strolling through this area. I came a few weeks ago but the park was locked off with police tape due to an officer being attacked. The area is super quiet and seems like a nice place to relax. There is a beautiful view of the water and it has a floating dock the you can swim out too as well. Great place for walking or riding a bike as it leads out to the Selkirk Trest...
Paddle'n Go
One of the best spots for swimming and paddle boarding the Gorge . We drop off paddle boards for our clients in this location because of the easy access to the water by using the dock and easy parking
In June, attend the free Vic West Fest in the park for kids' games and music. Summer trails stay busy—come early. Winter rains can make paths muddy; pack boots.
