What makes it 65% Baby-Friendly: Flat paths and shaded lawns suit strollers and blanket time, but no change tables or nursing room and reliance on portable toilets lessen convenience for caregivers with infants.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time for a stroller walk, playground break, picnic, and brief dock visit without rushing.
Stroll along paved paths:
Enjoy a gentle, stroller-friendly walk around the park and along the Gorge Waterway.
Tip: Use a sunshade stroller and wear comfortable shoes.
Picnic on the lawn:
Set up a blanket near the playground on the spacious grassy area.
Tip: Bring easy-to-eat snacks, water, and a portable changing mat.
Visit the dock and swim steps:
Access calm water from the dock with built-in swim steps and lifejacket loaner station.
Tip: Borrow a lifejacket and keep the baby within arm’s reach.
Fenced toddler playground:
Let your baby explore toddler-sized slides and swings in a fully fenced area.
Tip: Go early to find an empty bench under the shade.
Explore the tea garden and food forest:
Wander quiet paths past fruit trees, herbs, and permaculture plantings.
Tip: Hold your baby’s hand while letting them touch soft leaves.

Beautiful garden and open field and pathway to the Gorge inlet. Easy walk to Selkirk Bridge.

The place I met on my way to the Victoria West Community Center. A beautiful Gorge water way and a nice Selkirk Trestle bridge catches the eye.

I really love this Park 😀 Water, walking trails, Beach. Plenty of space for all activities, fresh air. Amazing! Lately I've venturing off in the distance but I stayed in city limits. This is a great Park. So many places to adventure to.

This was my second attempt at strolling through this area. I came a few weeks ago but the park was locked off with police tape due to an officer being attacked. The area is super quiet and seems like a nice place to relax. There is a beautiful view of the water and it has a floating dock the you can swim out too as well. Great place for walking or riding a bike as it leads out to the Selkirk Trest...
Paddle'n Go
One of the best spots for swimming and paddle boarding the Gorge . We drop off paddle boards for our clients in this location because of the easy access to the water by using the dock and easy parking
In June, join Vic West Fest at the park for free kids’ games and live music. In summer, bring sun protection and extra water. In rainy months, pack a stroller rain cover.
