What makes it 77% Kids-Friendly: Children can bike the flat trail, skip stones, and play on open lawns, yet the lack of a playground, lifeguards, and shade plus a rocky water edge means parents must supervise closely.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A mid-length visit lets families explore rock sculptures, splash by the river, enjoy a picnic and ride bikes without rushing.
Balanced rock sculptures:
Walk the paved shore path to see dozens of gravity-defying stone stacks.
Tip: Let kids try stacking small stones under supervision and explore different sculptures.
Splash and skip stones:
Gentle, shallow riverbanks let children wade and learn stone-skipping.
Tip: Bring water shoes and a change of clothes; pick flat stones for easier skipping.
Picnic with river view:
Use picnic tables or grassy spots for a scenic family lunch.
Tip: Pre-order a Cottage Brunch Box (≈CAD25) or pack sandwiches and a blanket.
Family bike or scooter ride:
Ride the smooth Capital Pathway together along the river.
Tip: Bring helmets and start near Tunney’s Pasture Station to avoid busy roads.
Snack break at NCC Bistro:
Grab hot dogs, ice cream or juice on the riverside patio.
Tip: Share kid-friendly treats; check opening (summer 11 am–9 pm) before you go.

Nice area to wander around. The rock sculptures were really cool. On the day I was passing through, there was a big storm, and I saw rare asperitas clouds there!

Beautiful views of Gatineau and Ottawa downtown skyline. The water is shallow around the banks and clear, it was refreshing to dip on my feet and feel the coolness. Pretty busy trail with cyclists, hikers and joggers alike but the views makes it worthwhile.

One of the less touristy spots in Ottawa to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Definitely worth going here to see the beautiful sculptures. They are such beautiful works of art with lots of dedication put into it. I even got to see the sculptor himself, John Ceprano, work on it.

Very scenic place and nice for a walk or sitting there just to chill. There is a parking for your car nearby and a public washroom. In the summer there is a patio near the parking where you can have a meal or a drink. One of the hidden spots in ottawa
Visit June–September for warm weather, Bistro patio service and Weekend Bike Days (May–Oct). In fall, enjoy golden leaves and fewer crowds. Paths stay clear in winter but water play isn’t recommended.
