What makes it 39% Baby-Friendly: Babies are permitted, yet early hours, pungent odours, uneven paving, and no onsite nursing or changing tables oblige carers to use distant facilities, making the market only partly practical.
Note: Fish Market is 39% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Bruges for a more suitable experience.
Why 10–15 minutes visit duration is ideal for with baby: The fish smell and uneven cobbles are best handled with a brief visit before moving to more baby-friendly spots.
Canal photo stop:
Take a quick family photo by the Groenerei canal boats.
Tip: Stand behind the safety railing and hold the baby securely; the promenade is flat for a stroller.
Colonnade stroll:
Push the stroller under the 19th-century stone arcade.
Tip: Move slowly over the flat mosaic cobbles to avoid jolts.
Craft stall browsing:
Let your baby see colorful postcards and small trinkets in the covered gallery.
Tip: Keep purchases light (€5 or less) to avoid carrying heavy bags.

The local artists make this a go to for me. I bought hand- made cards and some earrings. FYI while it began as a fish market is now an open-air covered market.

There were little stalls where you could buy stuff. There was a lady with an old machine which they used to make clothes (I think). There was this lovely lady who painted portraits of other people, very talented.

The Vismarkt (fish market) in Brugge (Bruges) is no longer where they sell fish. The day that we visited there were random vendors selling tourist trinkets. Located near other landmarks in the historic center, it is easy to pass by without spending too much time. And at least the building structure was preserved.

There’s a few local artists that have their stuffs. The surrounding was what makes it special. A lovely place to visit. Better to have cash in hand because few accept card payments

There was no fish when I went there, only crafts and some jewellery stalls. But the surrounding atmosphere was good and a good photo spots with old buildings and boats. Lots of chairs available to enjoy the moment.
Market stalls run only Wednesday–Saturday mornings. Visit outside those days for a quiet arcade but no fish vendors.
