What makes it 63% Kids-Friendly: School-age children often like the flags, murals, and guide stories, yet there are many stairs, no interactive tasks, and zero play or snack areas, so energy and attention may fade quickly.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This time lets your family see the ground-floor hall, join a guided tour, and enjoy photos without rushing.
Stroll through the ground-floor hall:
Admire the painted ceilings, coats of arms and historic stonework without a ticket.
Tip: Kids can look up at each crest and point out colors; the open space lets them move around safely.
Join the 'Our Beautiful Floor' guided tour:
Explore the noble floor’s Council Chamber, Mayor’s Salon and more in a 70-minute family-friendly tour.
Tip: Ask for the children’s quiz or spot-the-statue game before the tour to keep younger kids engaged.
Photo hunt by the facade and Brabo statue:
Walk outside to find colorful flags, statues and Renaissance details on the facade and plaza.
Tip: Turn it into a game: give kids a list of features (flag colors, statue name) to find and check off.

A16th Century built Architectural Marvel.Decorated with National Flags of various Nations. Nice to see flags . There is a fountain in front of the building. The town hall and the market square is a must visit place. The City hall has been a symbol of its pride and beauty. The cathedral and guild houses are other attractions in the square.

I have been there on last Sunday, and I don’t why but it was filled with a lot of countries’ flags… such a beautiful place, making a great harmony with the monument in the center.

Pretty city hall with a nice statue in the front and excellent exhibits that explain the cities plan for parks and highway removal

Built in the 16th century, this UNESCO-listed building is adorned with statues, flags, and intricate details that showcase the city’s rich history and craftsmanship. The City Hall has been a symbol of Antwerp's civic pride and governance for centuries, and its elegant facade is a highlight of the Grote Markt. Very beautiful. Shame the weather is not nice so couldn’t get good photos
In summer, visit early to avoid crowds and bring water; in winter, wrap up warm as the square can get windy and enjoy the festive market stalls near City Hall in December.
