What makes it 72% Kids-Friendly: Children up to 12 ride half-price or free, can explore short marked loops and eat schnitzel portions inside; steep longer trails lack rails, so parents must supervise closely and skip strollers.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time to ride the cable car, explore the plateau loop, enjoy a picnic and grab a meal without rushing.
Cable car ride:
Take the round-trip cable car from valley to Bergstation.
Tip: Buy tickets online to secure time slots; children under 6 ride free.
Easy plateau loop:
Follow the 10-minute gentle path around the station plaza.
Tip: Kids should wear sturdy shoes; no stroller beyond the plaza.
Panoramic terrace:
Admire views of Salzburg, Salzkammergut lakes and Berchtesgaden Alps.
Tip: Visit at sunrise or late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds.
Picnic on sun-warmed rocks:
Bring snacks and relax on benches or rocks by the terrace.
Tip: Pack non-perishable foods and refill water bottles at the station.
Alpenrestaurant Bergstation:
Order small schnitzel, noodles or apple strudel with kids’ portions.
Tip: Request high-chairs and reserve a window table for views.

Used with our Salzburg card, 25 bus from Salzburg right to the cable car station. A quick ride up and you're there. Great service, nice restaurant and a nice log cabin up a little higher for hot chocolate and food. Can be a bit rocky in places for those not so good on your feet, also wear sensible footwear, it's not built for comfort :) Oh... If you get your Salzburg card online, you have to vali...
Finite Trips
You have an included return ticket to the Cable car and the bus 25 that can get you there with your Salzburg card. I think it's definitely worth it even in cases when there isn't the best weather condition.

A well maintained, clean cable car station. There are free bathrooms and an attached restaurant. Cable cars run every 30 minutes down the mountain. The views are great and they have a few signs that match your view up to the names of the mountains.

Combining hiking and a cable car ride makes this mountain station unique. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy beautiful short hikes between the peaks.

Opening during the Easter weekend(sunday). I visited around 9:00, Icy frozen snow on the pathway is quite slippery can be dangerous in general. and Hiking trail to the top of the mountain was not reachable due to snow. But it is great and nice mountain.
In summer, pack sunscreen and hats. In winter, dress in layers and bring traction boots for icy spots.
