What makes it 94% Kids-Friendly: Kids up to 12 can race slot cars, ride the big slide, join free workshops, and handle toys everywhere; picnic zones, low family ticket, and safe indoor setting make it near perfect.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This gives enough time to explore exhibits, play areas, and catch the puppet show without rushing younger children.
Explore themed toy rooms:
Wander through rooms of teddy bears, dolls, trains, and classic musical instruments.
Tip: Let kids touch age-appropriate displays and admire the four centuries of instruments on level two.
Indoor slide adventure:
Enjoy the big indoor slide designed for children.
Tip: Supervise younger kids at the slide landing area and clear the way quickly for others.
Carrera slot-car racing:
Race on the Carrera track for a hands-on speed challenge.
Tip: Book your €5 half-hour slot early; lanes fill up, especially on weekends.
Kasperl puppet show:
Watch the traditional Kasperl puppet performance.
Tip: Collect free tickets at the desk and arrive 10 minutes before the 15:00 show on Wednesdays.
Marble runs & train play:
Build marble tracks and steer toy trains in large play zones.
Tip: Encourage teamwork; bring a small set of extra marbles in case of spills.

Suitable for small children up to around 6 years old at most. There's not much to do with older kids. My 2-year-old daughter enjoyed the museum, but my 9-year-old son didn’t like it at all — he went through it in just 15 minutes. It lacks interactivity: most of the toys are behind glass, and the ones that are accessible are not of the best quality.

The best 5 euros ever spent for myself and almost two year old. Absolutely fascinated by the toy car collection and model railway. This is a museum built for kids. Just perfect for a morning in Salzburg. There are staff thoroughly cleaning areas throughout the day which is great to see.

We took 2 children aged 6 and 9 and they absolutely loved it. We didn’t think they would enjoy it for so long but they adored just adored it.

Free for adults with Salburz pass, 2 euro.for my 5 yo. Great place for the kids to play and great place for adults to rest tired feet as they have a lot of sitting areas while kids play

My kids - 2, 7, 11 y.o. enjoyed it a lot. We paid 10 euro for 2 adults and 3 kids. And it is worth every cents. I recommend to bring your own socks, because you can't wear shoes in the museum. We spent around 2 hours.
Best visited in the morning to avoid crowds. Indoor setting makes it ideal in any weather. During winter, combine with nearby Christmas markets for festive fun.
