Difficult to find, but absolutely worth the trek to get there. Beautiful graveyard and views of the city that are breathtaking. We came here originally as part of our self guided Sound of Music tour.

We took 25 fm the train station area and walk up to the church, the church is open to public. Nice and rustic, beauitful view from the higher ground. We didnt have to purchase any tickets. Nice place, though a far walk back to the bus station.

Visiting Sift Nonnberg was a moving experience. Time has stood still since the time Sound of Music, the movie, was shot there in relation to "Maria". I guess since many many decades before that as well.

Iconic abbey from the movie the Sound of Music. The gates to access the small inner yard and the huge metal doors to access the chapel. People may come in and light a candle. Keep silence 🤫🙏
In summer, visit late afternoon for cooler light. In winter, arrive before 3 pm as closing times are earlier. Autumn mornings can be misty, adding atmosphere to the terrace view.
