Rising slowly above the rooftops of Salzburg, the FestungsBahn feels less like a ride and more like a gentle ascent into history, where baroque domes, cobbled streets, and golden light unfold like a timeless painting beneath the sky. #salzburg

We had purchased tickets ahead so we just walked on. Great view of the city. Short ride but much better than walking.

Handy funicular up to the castle from the cathedral. Round trip is included in the castle tickets. The basic ticket with funicular, panorama tour and museums is great. 14,50 euros for adults.
Summer (May–Sept) offers complimentary Quick-Tours at 09:30 and 19:00. From April to October, reserve Mozart concert dates early to avoid sell-outs.
