Positives:

  • Complimentary Viewing: The fenced observation deck is free and safe for children to roam.
  • Easy Motorway Stop: Directly on the A13 autobahn, perfect for a quick break on road trips.

Challenges:

  • Limited Facilities: No baby-changing rooms or playground on site—bring supplies for young children.
  • Steep Steps: The path to the platform includes steps; a baby carrier is easier than a stroller.

I recommend to make a short stay at the Raststätte to take a look at the bridge from above. From the highway, turn right before reaching the parking lot at the restaurant and McDonalds, and then down. There you’ll find another convenient parking space. From there you can go up to the observation deck, take a look to the bridge from above and maybe have a picnic.

I've crossed it many times on the highway. You almost don't realize you're on a bridge. I once saw it from below, from a national road, when 3 people were bungee jumping. Nice.
