Positives:

  • Spectacular Engineering: The six-lane Autobahn bridge stands 192 m above the river, framing dramatic alpine views.
  • Private Moments: The lower deck stays uncrowded outside midday, ideal for a quiet couple’s picnic.

Challenges:

  • Weather Dependency: High winds or rain can cancel jumps and limit visibility from the deck.
  • Limited Facilities: No café or shelter at the viewing platform; restrooms only at the motorway service area.

I recommend to make a short stay at the Raststätte to take a look at the bridge from above. From the highway, turn right before reaching the parking lot at the restaurant and McDonalds, and then down. There you’ll find another convenient parking space. From there you can go up to the observation deck, take a look to the bridge from above and maybe have a picnic.

I've crossed it many times on the highway. You almost don't realize you're on a bridge. I once saw it from below, from a national road, when 3 people were bungee jumping. Nice.
